Italian Sausage Pizza Hoagie

So it is the summer time and it has been super hot and I mean hot.  Maybe not Texas or Florida hot but when it is in the high 80s before the first day of summer it is hot for Wisconsin.  So with that I haven't made many new things except for some quick dinner that do not involve the oven or stove just the grill, but it did go back down to the 70s and I needed some more recipes for the blog so I sharing this recipe that i have never shared before and for that I am sorry.

So enjoy this flavorful Italian sausage, sauteed onion and green pepper with melted mozzarella cheese and of course what could be better than cooking it all in sauce and putting it in a hoagie?  Lots of things but that isn't the point.  This is good, make it.

Ingredients
6 Italian Sausages *cut in rounds*
2 Green bell peppers *sliced*
1 Large Onion *sliced*
1 Jar of spaghetti sauce
Motzarella Cheese *sliced*
2 Tablespoons Butter
Hoagie Buns

Instructions
Preheat oven 325*
Place butter, onions and peppers in small sauce pan and cook on low for 30 minutes.
While that is cooking place your sauce and Italian sausages in a pan and cover and leave on med heat.  Stir occasionally for 20 mins.
When done place the amount of sausages you choose in your hoagie with some extra sauce, place some onions and peppers over the sausages and top off with cheese.  Wrap each sandwich with tin foil and place in oven for 15 minutes.  Unwrap and eat right away.

Crispy Chicken Ranch Buffalo Pizza

I was asked to participate in a Tyson Crispy Chicken Strip Recipe Contest and here is what I came up with.  Since the super bowl is so close I thought why not make super bowl food!
Crispy chicken with the spiciness off buffalo sauce and the perfect pairing of ranch dressing.  All the super bowl freaks will freak over this simple pizza.

1 Roll of refrigerated pizza Crust
5 Chopped up Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips
1 Cup of Mozzarella and Cheddar Cheese
Buffalo Sauce
Ranch Dressing
1 Table Spoon Parsley

Make crust as directions say
Place cheese on crust and top with cut up Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips, bake for what the directions say on the crust.
When pizza is done swirl on your buffalo sauce and ranch dressing to your liking and top with parsley
Place back in oven for 3 minutes
Take out and devour

Fruit Pizza

Who doesn't love a huge sugar cookie covered in cream cheese and fruit?  I think everyone really....
This is a quick and simple dessert to put out for any get together and these certain colors go amazing for the 4th of July but really you can put any fruit on it you please but blueberries and strawberries are my favorite.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature*
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature*
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch

8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1-2 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
assorted sliced fresh fruit

Make the crust:
In a large bowl using a hand-held mixer or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the softened butter for about 1 minute on medium speed. Get it nice and smooth, then add the sugar on medium speed until fluffy and light in color. Beat in egg and vanilla. Scrape down the sides as needed.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cornstarch. With the mixer running on low speed, slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in 3 different parts. Once completely combined, cover the dough tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and up to 1 day. Without chilling, your cookie dough may spread over the sides of the pan.
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray. Remove chilled cookie dough from the refrigerator and press onto the pizza pan in an even flat circle, as pictured above. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the eyes are very lightly browned. Overbaking will lend a hard crust. Allow crust to cool completely before decorating. I put the crust in the refrigerator after 10 minutes of cooling at room temperature - this sped up the process.
I usually use this time (as the crust cools) to chop the fruit.
Make the frosting:
In a medium bowl using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and butter together on medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add the confectioners’ sugar and 1 Tbsp cream. Beat for 2 minutes. Add the vanilla and 1 more Tbsp cream if needed to thin out. Beat for 1 minute. Spread in a thick layer over the cooled sugar cookie crust. Decorate with fruit.
Cut into slices and serve. Fruit pizza may be made 1 day in advance, covered tightly, and stored in the refrigerator before serving. Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Pizza Balls

First of all I have wonderful news.  I was contacted by The Daily Meal and was asked to be part of  the Culinary Content Network!  It is a wonderful opportunity as a blogger and it is an amazing website! It is a group of bloggers who write everything about food, they promote my writing/blog posts and even travel in the future! You will see below a footer at the end of my blog.  So don't forget to check them out.

Today is something quick and easy.  I saw these a long time ago and recently remembered them and thought they would make a quick lunch and boy was I right! Place fold bake and dip!  It is that easy and family friendly.  Nothing can taste better then cheese and pepperoni wrapped in a biscuit.

  • 3 cans Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits *buy the biscuits that come in the 4 pack and 10 per can*
  • 56 pepperoni slices
  • Block of cheese *I use Colby*
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Parmesan
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic bread sprinkle *seasoning*
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
Cut the block of cheese into at least 28 squares.
Flatten a biscuit out and stack pepperoni and cheese on top.
Gather up the edges of the biscuit.
Line the rolls up (seam side down) in a greased 9×13 in. pan.
Brush with beaten egg.
Sprinkle with Parmesan, Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
Bake at 425°F for 18-20 minutes.
Serve the rolls with warm pizza sauce for dipping.

Hidden Veggie Pizza

        Ok so today is

And our recipe for the day is Hidden Veggie Pizza!  It is very simple and healthy for kids! You can make a full pizza or personal pan pizza's like I made here in this post.  Now I choose Ragu Pizza sauce because it is the only pizza sauce on the shelf that has no sugar or syrup in the ingredients so in that case it is still healthier for the little ones.  And of course you can put any kind of toppings you want we just had pepperoni but you can do turkey sausage or some pineapple and ham! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • One can of Pizza crust *or homemade whatever you choose*
  • Pizza Cheese Blend
  • Ragu Pizza Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Spinach Puree
  • 3 Tablespoons Sweet Potato Puree
  • your toppings

Directions

  • Have your puree's ready *if you don't know how to puree   *click here*
  • Put your sauce in a pan along with your puree's and stir! You won't even notice and the spinach just looks like spices

  • Make your pizza crust the size you want and put your choice of toppings on

  • and finally put your pizza in the oven for 10 minutes or until crust in brown

And there you a go! A pizza for kids with the veggies hidden in the sauce!
